Airtel on Wednesday discontinued the affordable Rs 49 plan by changing its prepaid recharge portfolio. Now this plan will be replaced by Airtel's Rs 79 option.
This change will be applicable from tomorrow, Thursday, July 29, on a pan-India basis. The Rs 49 Airtel prepaid recharge plan used to come with a talk-time of Rs 38.52, 100MB data, and validity of up to 28 days.

Last week, Airtel made changes to its postpaid plans for both retail and corporate customers, under which the family postpaid plan of Rs 749 was discontinued.
After the new change, Airtel users will no longer be able to get the Rs 49 prepaid recharge plan, which was available with a validity of up to 28 days. Instead of the Rs 49 plan, now customers will have to activate the Rs 79 plan as the cheapest option.

Talking about the Airtel prepaid plan of Rs 79, it is equipped with a talk time of Rs 64, 1 paisa per second local and STD, 106 minutes of outgoing calls, and 200MB data. However, in this plan also you are going to get the validity of 28 days only.
In May, Airtel had made available a free plan of Rs 49 for 55 million low-income users during the coronavirus epidemic. However, now after a few months, the company has decided to discontinue this plan.
As we mentioned, Airtel also changed the Airtel postpaid plan of Rs 999 last week. Under this change, the company had also announced to discontinue the plan of Rs 749.
