Can the Indian government's messaging app Sandes compete with WhatsApp? It is available for download on Google Play Store and App Store.
The Indian government has launched Sandes to compete with WhatsApp. Work was going on for a long time and it was also released for limited users.
It is noteworthy that the Minister of State Electronics and IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar has given this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha. This instant messaging platform has been developed by the National Informatics Center.
Talking about the National Informatics Center, it comes under the Ministry of IT. The working style of Sandes is similar to that of WhatsApp and its logo also seems to be inspired by WhatsApp.
On this platform, users can sign up through a mobile number or email id. At present, it is being used only by the employees of the Government of India. Apart from this, people working in government agencies have also been given to use it.

In response to a question, the minister has said that the NIC i.e. National Informatics Center under MeitY has prepared it. This app is for instant messaging communication.
According to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Sandes is an open source-based secure cloud-enabled platform hosted by the government. This is because its strategic control remains with the Government of India. There are many features of this platform. Single chat, group messaging, file sharing, and audio-video calls can also be done from this.
Let us tell you that eGov has also been supported in this app i.e. it has been integrated into it. According to Rajeev Chandrashekhar, this app is available on Google Play Store and App Store.
Will this app compete with WhatsApp?
It can be downloaded from App Store or Google Play Store. After downloading the phone number has to be entered. You will be able to sign up in this app through OTP. Now it will be interesting to see whether end-to-end encryption is given in it or not.
Let us tell you that the biggest feature of WhatsApp is its encryption system. This app has end-to-end encryption. It is claimed that apart from the sender or receiver, no third person can read the chat, not even the company. In such a situation, whether end-to-end encryption will come later in the message or not, cannot be said.

If this app does not have end-to-end encryption, then it may not compete with WhatsApp. Because end-to-end encryption is a big thing in terms of the privacy of users. Data from apps without end-to-end encryption can be accessed by third parties.
Apart from this, the specialty of WhatsApp is its speed and some special features too. Messages get delivered here very fast. In such a situation, whether the Sandes app is able to match it will also be interesting to see.
