Google said in a blogpost, "We're taking another step to help viewers discover and buy products from local businesses. We have signed a binding agreement to acquire SimSim and the transaction is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.” The company, however, did not disclose the financial details of the transaction.

The blogpost said that there will be no immediate changes to SimSim and the app will continue to operate independently. SimSim co-founders Amit Bagaria, Kunal Suri and Saurabh Vashisht said in a joint statement that the platform was launched to help users across India make online purchases with ease.


He said, “We started SimSim with the mission of helping users across India shop online with ease, through small sellers and brands by trusted influencers to showcase their products by harnessing the power of content, and is able to sell.
