After the implementation of this ban from July 1, beverage companies will not be able to sell their products with plastic straws. Therefore, companies like Amul, Mother Dairy and Dabur had requested the government to postpone their decision for some time.
Items will be Banned from July 1
The use of items like ear-buds, plastic sticks for balloons, plastic flags, candy sticks, ice cream sticks, polystyrene (thermocol) plates for decoration, cups, glasses, forks, spoons will be banned with plastic.

Straw Dependent Big Business
Amul, the country's largest dairy group, wrote a letter to the government a few days ago requesting to postpone the ban on plastic straws.
Amul had said that this decision of the government will have a negative impact on the farmers and consumption of milk, the world's largest milk producer.
Juice and milk products priced between Rs 5 to Rs 30 have a big business in India. Beverages from companies like Amul, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Mother Dairy reach the customers with plastic straws.
Because of this, the beverage companies are upset due to the ban on single use plastic. The government has clearly asked companies to switch to alternative straws.
Company's Problems
Dairy products makers like Parle Agro, Dabur and Mother Dairy have started importing paper straws. Although paper straws are costing more than plastic straws, companies are resorting to it to continue selling the products.
Manish Bandlish, Managing Director of Mother Dairy Fruit and Vegetable Pvt Ltd said some time back that we will import paper straws. But these are four times more expensive than existing plastic straws.
What Is Single Use Plastic?
Single use plastic is thrown away after using it once. This type of plastic cannot even be recycled. Most single-use plastics are burnt or buried under the ground. Because of this, it harms the environment for a long time.
